“I was (am) 15. I live in Brooklyn, NY.

The original idea for this ‘new’ room, was to try and recreate Wes Anderson’s style in The Darjeeling Limited. It takes place in India, with fantastic colors, but it’s centered around three urban white people, and myself, and urban white girl with a love for intense colors, jumped at it. I’m really into music, (there’s an old 45 on my wall). I’m also an art major, so I have this disastrous sewing and art area under my loft bed, but it’s nothing anyone wants to see. 

So, to ‘awesome-up’ my room last summer, I bought a bunch of candles, which made my mom none too pleased. But she said I could get those religious, glass contained ones, so I have a bunch. Also, got some incense, and found an old oil lamp at a yard sale for five dollars, I was so excited. I also got a bunch of friends over to help me paint the room, most of the walls are green, but one is red. I made a stencil, which went over the red wall, making orange flower-sort things. Recently my parents found me an antique dresser, with a giant mirror, so I can dance around singing “I enjoy being a girl” or something. I’ve hung up a bunch of records, and found an old love-seat on the street. The last of what I consider awesome in my room, is my homemade flower pot, and my cow-girl pinup.”—Submission from Taylor
